Festival Philosophy

-To provide a festival that is student and director centered
-To operate a festival that is musically and educationally oriented without competition or grading
-To provide a workshop type environment so that students can learn and improve by participation and listening
-To provide excellent performance examples which groups can strive to emulate
-To develop a positive atmosphere in which students and directors can learn by listening, sharing, and working together

Welcome to the 2009 Canadian Rocky Mountain Festival. This year you can register on line from the registration page. All groups please send a $150 refundable deposit per group by mail to the address below. All groups please forward a recording and a philosophy by June 30th, 2008 to:

All applications will be reviewed and invitations to the 2009 festival will be issued by Oct. 15, 2008.  If you have any scheduling requests please state on your registration.  This years scheduling will be done in October 2008 for the 2009 festival.


PERFORMANCES
* All performances are strictly limited to 30 minutes including set up and take down.
* Groups performing at the festival will select their own music.  Ensembles are encouraged to present a variety of repertoire representing a diversity of styles appropriate to the performance idiom.
* Jazz band performances will be acoustic with mics being used only for solos and the rhythm section.
* Each performing group will receive an hour session with one of the facilitators.
* All groups will be able to attend concerts, general sessions, master classes, and social functions.

REGISTRATION
Each member of a performing group will pay a $50 registration fee.  Students performing in two groups will pay a $70 registration fee.  Students in three or more groups will pay an $85 registration fee.  The deposit of $150 per group should be deducted from the total registration.  50% of the registration is due Nov 30, 2008 with the balance due March 31, 2009.

SCHOLARSHIPS
There will be in excess of $20,000.00 in scholarships at the 2009 festival.
